This is the coil that BMW installed in all their Oilheas 4-Valve Boxers.


The main advantages compared to the original ignition coil include:

  • R 80 GS, R 100 GS, PD (87-90) (12/1986 — 07/1990)
  • R 80 GS, R 100 GS, PD (90-95) (04/1990 — 02/1996)
  • R 80 GS Basic (96) (01/1996 — 12/1996)
  • R 80 R, R 100 R, Mystik (91-95) (03/1991 — 01/1996)

    • Furthermore, the connection technology on the primary- and secondary side (in- and outlet) was changed and is better than with the coils used so far. Proven 1000 times !!


    Therefore we deliver the ignition coil complete with:


    • matching mount front right
    • Connection plug for the primary side
    • Spark plug wire set with NGK spark plug resistor covers LB 05F

    When installed in the following models, "R" type spark plugs must be used

    80 GS, R 100 GS, PD (90-95) (04/1990 - 02/1996)

    R 80 GS Basic (96) (01/1996 - 12/1996)

    R 80 R, R 100 R, mystic (91-95) (03/1991 - 01/1996)



    By default we always deliver the coil for installation on the front right, behind the steering head, as shown in the picture.
